Public Safety Report

The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety:


Identity theft—June 28, 12:30 p.m., 900 block of Pinto Palos Terrace. On June 25, the victim received her credit card statement from her credit union. On the statement were numerous charges from May 20 to June 23 that were incurred in the state of Washington. The victim had not been to Washington or authorized anyone to use her account number in Washington. The total amount incurred was $2,142.27.

Vandalism—June 28, 7:28 a.m., 1000 block of Michelangelo Drive. The victim was involved in a heated argument with the suspect. A short time later the victim went outside to check the area and observed the suspect using some type of object to break the rearview mirror of the victim's vehicle.

Attempted burglary—June 28, 7:09 a.m., 800 block of Mangrove Drive. The unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the victim's vehicle. The suspect(s) then fled the area in an unknown direction after removing one Panasonic personal CD player, worth $80, 60 CDs and a black leather wallet, worth $20.

Hit-and-run—June 26, 10:50 p.m., Intersection of San Zeno Drive and Lawrence Expressway. When a Sunnyvale officer responded to a hit-and-run investigation, witnesses identified the suspect and the suspect confessed to the hit-and-run. There were no injuries. The suspect was arrested, processed and released on a citation.

Sale of tobacco to minor—June 26, 5:09 p.m., 600 block of N. Fair Oaks Avenue. A suspect sold a furnished tobacco product to a police decoy who was less than 18 years old. The suspect was cited for the violation and released at the scene.

Suspicious circumstances—June 25, 5:37 p.m., 700 block of Saranac Drive. A Sunnyvale officer responded to a report of suspicious circumstances at a residence. Upon arrival the officer made contact with the reporting party and the victim's sons, who informed the officer that they had found possible bloodstains on the floor of their rental property, along with disturbed earth under the house with shoes on top. Detectives and support personnel responded.
