Youth soccer The De Anza Youth Soccer League will hold registration for the fall recreation program on July 19, Aug. 2 and Aug. 28, 6:308:30 p.m. each day, at Creekside Park, on Miller between Bollinger and Stevens Creek. Sign-ups are for players who will be 9 or younger as of July 31, 2002, and the cost is $95 per player. Players must provide a birth certificate or passport and a small (1x1) photo. Parents may request that players be placed on the same team with same age/gender friends. The De Anza Youth Soccer League serves youngsters in Saratoga, Cupertino and West San Jose. Fall ball The Tri-Cities Little League will hold fall ball sign-ups for players ages 716 on July 25, 5:308 p.m., at Wilson Park. The season runs from September through October, and the cost is $55 per player. All-star football The annual Silicon Valley Youth Classic Charlie Wedemeyer High School All-Star Football Game returns for the 28th time this summer. A talented crop of graduating high school seniors is set to play in this year's game on July 24, 7:30 p.m., at San Jose City College. The Almaden Valley Rotary Club sponsors the football game each summer, with proceeds going to the Rotary charity and scholarship programs. Local players participating for the North squad in this year's game include Steven Nichols of Homestead, Scott Mueller of Cupertino, Drew Rogers and Ryan Katz of Monta Vista and Sean Imai of Lynbrook. The Wedemeyers, Charlie and his wife Lucy, are expected to make their appearance at this summer's game, greeting players as they are introduced prior to the game. Wedemeyer is the former Los Gatos High School football coach who has Lou Gehrig's disease, also known as ALS. Despite the effects of the debilitating disease, Charlie and Lucy have gone on to create the Wedemeyer Foundation. All-Sports Camp Santa Clara University will host its Summer All-Sports Camp for children with a "sincere interest in sports and outdoor recreation." Camps will begin July 14 and Aug. 11 for resident campers and July 15 and Aug. 12 for day campers. Sports offered will include baseball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, tennis and more.
