Air Expo showcases military might

The second annual Air Expo will take place July 27–28 at Moffett Field. The event will feature Navy F/A 18 maneuvers and combat and rescue mission simulations by the local 129th squadron of the California National Guard. The audience can explore more than 30 types of aircraft and look at current NASAresearch projects at the Space Technology Pavilion.

All active-duty military, fire, police and rescue personnel with official identification will be offered buy-one, get-one-free tickets for themselves and immediate family members.

Show hours are 9 a.m.–5 p.m. both days. Tickets are $10 for children 4–10 years old and $15 for adults. For more information about volunteering, tickets, parking passes and corporate packages, visit www.airshownetwork.com. Locals are encouraged to volunteer. Summer Series starts sizzling

The Sunnyvale Downtown Association is sponsoring the third annual Sunnyvale Summer Series, beginning July 10 and running through Aug. 28 in downtown near Murphy Avenue and Evelyn Street. Events for opening day include the Urban Village Farmers' Market, which opens at 4 p.m., and music by the Joe Sharino Band, starting at 6 p.m.

Each week of the eight-week series will feature a new band and a newly featured restaurant from downtown at the association's food booth. Admission is free. For more information, visit the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce website at www.svcoc.org.
