Youth soccer

The De Anza Youth Soccer League will hold registration for the fall recreation program on July 19, Aug. 2 and Aug. 28, 6:30–8:30 p.m. each day, at Creekside Park, on Miller between Bollinger and Stevens Creek.

Sign-ups are for players who will be 9 or younger as of July 31, 2002, and the cost is $95 per player. Players must provide a birth certificate or passport and a small (1x1) photo. Parents may request that players be placed on the same team with same age/gender friends.

Fall ball

The Tri-Cities Little League will hold fall ball sign-ups for players ages 7–16 on July 25, 5:30–8 p.m., at Wilson Park. The season runs from September through October, and the cost is $55 per player.


Mosier golf

The 22nd Ross Mosier Golf Classic and banquet, which benefit cystic fibrosis research at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, will be held at the Stanford University Golf Course on July 29. For more information, call 800.500.5598, e-mail crmosier@attbi.com or visit www.rossmosierclassic.org.


San Jose State camps

San Jose State University baseball coach Sam Piraro will head up the annual SJSU summer baseball camps for players ages 9–17 this summer.

Specialty camps are slated for July 29–Aug. 2 (pitching camp for ages 12–17, 10 a.m.–noon, and hitting camp for ages 9–17, 1–3 p.m.). The cost is $125 per player (both sessions $200), and camps are limited to the first 25 campers. All campers receive a free T-shirt, and there will be camper evaluations and special awards.

Soccer tryouts

The Sunnyvale Spartans, an under-13 Class 1 boys soccer team, is holding tryouts for the fall season. Players born after July 31, 1989, are eligible for the squad. For more information, call 408.720.1882 or Send e-mail to spartans_89@yahoo.com.


Dammit Run

The Dammit Run will return to Los Gatos for its 29th running on Aug. 17. Race-day registration will begin at 6:30 a.m., and the starting gun will blast at 8:30 a.m.

Awards will be given to the top 10 male and female finishers in the following divisions: open, 30–34, 35–39, 40–44 and 45–49. The top five male and female finishers in the 13–and–under, high school (ages 14–17), 50–54, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, 70–and–over and heavyweight divisions will receive awards.

The pre-registration entry fee is $10 ($30 with a T-shirt), and the fee is $20 on race day ($40 with a T-shirt). T-shirts alone are priced at $20 and will be sold at the track on race day or in advance at Athletic Performance, 55 W. Main St., or at the Runners Factory, 51 University Ave. Pre-registration closes Aug. 15.

All-Sports Camp

Santa Clara University will host its Summer All-Sports Camp for children with a "sincere interest in sports and outdoor recreation."

The camp will begin Aug. 11 for resident campers and Aug. 12 for day campers. Sports offered will include baseball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, tennis and more. For more information, contact Antonio Veloso at aveloso@scu.edu.
