Public Safety Report

The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety:


Auto burglary—July 6, 9:02 a.m., 1000 block of Stewart Drive. The unknown suspect(s) broke the driver's door window of the victim's car and opened the trunk of the car with the interior release. The suspect(s) took one Canon 35mm camera, worth $500, one black nylon bag with workout clothing, worth $100, and men's clothing, worth $200, from the trunk of the car.

Bomb threat—July 4, 2:49 p.m., 1600 block of Hollenbeck Road. A clothing store situated in the shopping center at the above address received two bomb threats via telephone. The store was evacuated and searched. Nothing out of the ordinary was found.

Assault on a police officer, bodily forcey—uly 2, 8:33 p.m., 700 block of Danforth Terrace. At approximately 7:31 p.m., a Sunnyvale police officer contacted the suspect while investigating a dog bite report. It was decided that the involved dog would be impounded for a 10-day quarantine period. The suspect willfully obstructed and delayed an animal control officer as she attempted to move to impound the dog. The suspect then obstructed and delayed the police officer by blocking the path to the front door. After the dog was removed, the suspect assaulted the police officer by swinging his hands up at his face and almost striking him.

Possession of a burglary tool—July 1, 11:10 p.m., intersection of Wolfe Road and Marion Way. When a Sunnyvale officer was conducting a traffic stop at the above intersection, he located several burglary tools in the vehicle. The officer arrested the suspect for possession of burglary tools. The suspect was then cited and released from headquarters.

Auto burglary—July 1, 8:44 p.m., 1000 block of Tasman Drive. A Sunnyvale public safety officer responded to a report of an auto burglary. The suspect(s) had removed $40 in cash, three Discover cards, one Capitol One MasterCard, one Washington Mutual ATM card from the car and fled the scene.

Commercial petty theft—July 1, 5:35 p.m., 1000 block of Arques Avenue. The suspect removed one Ciscom leather cell phone case, worth $14.99, one Belkin car power adapter/charger, worth $19.99, and one Sprint cell phone, worth $149.99, from a display at a store and concealed them in his clothing. The suspect then exited the store, having failed to pay for the items. The suspect was contacted by the store's loss prevention department and taken into custody.
