Public Safety Report

The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety:

Possession of controlled substance—July 18, 12:15 a.m., Intersection of Duane Drive and Gresham Drive. A Sunnyvale police officer stopped a bicyclist for a violation code. The officer located a piece of paper folded numerous times containing amphetamine. The bicyclist was arrested. The substance tested presumptive positive for amphetamine.

Storage shed burglary—July 17, 7:30 a.m., 1200 block of Henderson Avenue. The reporting person reported a water pressure cleaner worth $2,000 missing from a storage shed in an apartment complex. The reporting party stated that the storage shed was padlocked and secured the night before. The storage shed was found open with the padlock missing.

Grand theft-retail—July 17, 5:35 p.m., 100 block of W. Washington Avenue. Between 2:10 and 3:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) stole an electric keyboard from inside the music store for $2,191 and fled out an open back door.

Auto burglary-force—July 17, 7:40 p.m., 100 block of E. Fremont Avenue. Between 5:15 and 7:30 p.m. unknown suspect(s) forced entry into victim's vehicle, unlocked the driver's side door and entered the vehicle without the owner's knowledge or permission. Suspect(s) took a black backpack containing victim's personal items including one gray wallet containing miscellaneous items and $110 in cash.

Vandalism—July 17, 11:22 p.m., 1000 block of E. El Camino Real. The victim parked his vehicle in the retail parking lot. He returned an hour later and discovered that unknown suspect(s) had keyed his vehicle. The suspect(s) had gained entry and slashed the leather seats with a razor.

Commercial burglary—July 17, 6:31 p.m., 500 block of E. El Camino Real. The suspect fraudulently returned merchandise. He was arrested and transported to county jail. The items were four deodorants worth $11.48, one lubricant worth $5.89 and one Bayer Aspirin bottle worth $6.99.
