Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Stolen checks—July 30, 4:54 p.m., 1200 block of Lynn Way. The victim reported that three personal checks had been stolen. The victim discovered the checks were missing on July 29.

Auto burglary—July 29, 8:40 p.m., 500 block of S. Fair Oaks Avenue. Between 11 p.m. on July 28 and 8:15 a.m. on July 29, the unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the victim's vehicle and removed four CDs, worth $60.

Grand theft—July 29, 5:27 p.m., 900 block of E. Fremont Avenue. Between 7:30 a.m. on July 26 and 10 a.m. on July 29, the unknown suspect(s) entered a room and removed a laptop computer.

Auto burglary—July 28, 9:05 p.m., 1200 block of Hammerwood Avenue. The victim reported items missing from his vehicle. At 9 a.m. the victim found the following items missing from the car's ashtray: a $1 bill, a $10 bill and two first-class stamp books worth $10.

Possession of controlled substance—July 28, 7:12 p.m., 500 block of Sunnymount Drive. A Sunnyvale officer responded to a report of loud music. Upon entering officers found three intoxicated individuals and evidence of marijuana. Further investigation turned up more marijuana and the drug ecstasy. The paraphernalia and drugs were confiscated and booked as evidence.

Possession of controlled substance—
July 28, 7:58 a.m., 600 block of Almanor Avenue. A Sunnyvale officer contacted the occupant of a suspicious vehicle behind the above location. Officer located a glass case containing a used glass pipe, a straw and a small plastic bag. The substance tested positive for amphetamine. The suspect was arrested and booked into county jail.

Armed robbery—July 27, 9:56 p.m., 900 block of E. El Camino Real. The suspect entered the rear door of a restaurant with a semiautomatic handgun. He demanded money from the cash drawers. The frightened employees filled a bag with about $1,077. The suspect took the bag and fled out the rear entrance with two other individuals.
