Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Possession of drug paraphernalia—Aug. 12, 1:58 p.m. A public safety officer observed the suspect engaged in suspicious activity. Upon detention, the suspect was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana.

Petty theft—Aug. 11, 4:24 p.m. A store's security officer followed and observed the suspect obtaining three envelopes containing pictures she had had developed. She pulled the contents out of one envelope and put them in her waistband. Then she took out the contents from the second envelope and put them in the third envelope. She tore up the two empty envelopes and put them in the trash can. The suspect left the store after paying for only one envelope.

Possession of illegal weapon/butterfly knife—Aug. 11, 3:21 p.m. A public safety officer witnessed two suspects detonating some type of explosive device. After pursuing the vehicle, the officer apprehended both suspects.

Vandalism—Aug. 11, 1:50 p.m. A public safety officer responded to a report of a large group of people fighting with bats. One subject was seen fleeing the area in a vehicle. Two more subjects fled on foot. A witness identified the two subjects as suspects that vandalized two vehicles in front of a restaurant. The two suspects were arrested and booked at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety jail. Both suspects were later transferred to county jail.

Damage to property—Aug. 11, 1:22 p.m. A public safety officer responded to a report of a tree limb having fallen on a vehicle. When the officer arrived, he observed that a large tree limb had fallen from a tree located on city property onto the victim's vehicle. The victim stated that she had parked her car in front of the tree at approximately 12:20 p.m. When she came out of the house at 1:20 p.m., she noticed the damage.
