The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Possession of drug paraphernalia—Sept. 15, 10:04 p.m., east of Mathilda Avenue on El Camino Real. A Sunnyvale Public Safety officer stopped the suspect for riding his bike on the sidewalk and going against the flow of traffic. Upon a search of his person and his bike, a glass smoking pipe was found in a bag attached to the handlebar.

Residential burglary—Sept. 15, 9:30 a.m., 1000 block of Escalon Drive. An unknown suspect entered the front door of a residence using no force and took a Sony VIAO laptop computer, worth $1,800, and one black case, worth $45.

Commercial burglary—Sept. 15, 7:53 a.m., 200 block of W. Java Drive. Sunnyvale units responded to a commercial burglary alarm at a cafe. Upon arrival the officers discovered that the front door's window appeared to have been smashed and the lock appeared to have been pried. The safe had been moved and $250 was taken.

Auto burglary—Sept. 14, 4:48 p.m., 400 block of E. California Avenue. Between 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 13 and 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 14, the unknown suspect(s) used a tool to break the locking mechanism on the victim's vehicle's passenger door. The suspect removed one blue bag containing miscellaneous workout clothes, one Sony MP3 player, worth $250, and one black leather case containing miscellaneous CDs, worth $150.

Grand theft—Sept. 12, 5:07 p.m., 800 block of W. El Camino Real. An unknown suspect stole $1,185.71 in cash from the floor safe located in a rear office between 1:47 and 3:25 p.m.
