The Black Knights of the Sunnyvale-Cupertino Pop Warner football organization are off to a hot start in the 2002 season.
The Black Knights have opened the year with four straight wins, shutting out Oak Grove Central 23-0 and Redwood City 28-0 before beating Oak Grove West 36-6 and Hollister 8-6.
The Black Knights, who were to face Palo Alto last weekend, will host Oak Grove South on Oct. 12, noon, at Peterson Middle School.
In other Sunnyvale-Cupertino age groups, the Micro Rockets are 3-0-1, the Knights are 2-1-1 and the Rockets are 2-2.
The Micro Rockets opened the year with a 6-6 tie against Bay Cities, but came back to beat Redwood City 28-0, Oak Grove West 24-12 and Hollister 8-6. They played Palo Alto last weekend and will host Oak Grove South on Saturday at 2 p.m., at Peterson.
The Knights lost a 13-7 heartbreaker to Oak Grove Central in their opener, but fought back to beat Redwood City 18-7 and Oak Grove West 14-0 before tying Hollister 6-6. They, too, met Palo Alto last weekend and will entertain Oak Grove South on Saturday at 10 a.m.
The Rockets started the year with a 28-7 win over Pacifica,but lost 26-0 to Redwood City and 28-8 to Gilroy. The Rockets evened their record to 2-2 with an exciting 24-17 win over Hollister. They played Palo Alto over the weekend and will play at home against Oak Grove South on Saturday at 4 p.m.
The Jets, an instructional team, have also played four games and will meet Oak Grove South on Oct. 12, 8 a.m., at Peterson.
