Community players perform the '1940s Radio Hour'

Late October through mid-November, the Sunnyvale Community Players will be performing The 1940s Radio Hour, a musical about a time when the world was at war. With songs such as "Blue Moon," "I'll Be Seeing You," "Black Magic," "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," "Daddy" and "Love is Here to Stay," performers capture the spirit of the 1940s through the eyes of a radio station audience.

The show runs from Oct. 25 through Nov. 17, with performances on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Performances are staged at the Sunnyvale Community Center Theatre, located at 550 E. Remington Drive in Sunnyvale. The nonprofit organization is seeking more volunteers; those interested can call Debbie Keller at 408.255.8496.

Spencer Christian speaks at Sunnyvale Library Oct. 19

Spencer Christian, weather anchor for television station ABC 7, will speak about his work and his science books for children at the Sunnyvale Public Library on Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. The event is open to children in grades kindergarten and up. Christian's books on science are targeted toward elementary school children second grade and up.

Pottery show and sale Oct. 18 and 19 at Ramada

A pottery show by the Orchard Valley Ceramic Arts Guild will take place at the Ramada Inn located at 1217 Wildwood Ave. in Sunnyvale. More than 40 artists will display and sell their pottery. Their work includes functional and decorative pottery, jewelry, sculpture, pitfire work and raku.

Boutique holds sale Nov. 1­3

The Quilted Heart Holiday Boutique will feature more than 40 local crafters and artists with many holiday items for decorating and gift giving, including florals, wreaths, ornaments, dolls, antiques, food and children's clothing.

The boutique will be held at the Odd Fellows Hall located at 20589 Homestead Road in Cupertino at the intersection of De Anza Boulevard and Homestead Road. Boutique hours will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Nov. 1, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 2 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 3. For more information, call Ann Bakey at 408.737.7410.
