Soccer tryouts

The Sunnyvale Roadrunners, a Class 1 division soccer team, is holding tryouts for under-10/under-11 girls for the coming season. Girls born after July 31, 1992, are eligible. For more information, call Julio Castillo at 408.720.1882.


Golf tournament

The Bronco Baseball Golf Tournament, a fundraising event for the Santa Clara University baseball team, will be held Nov. 1 at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club in San Jose.

The best ball scramble tournament will begin with an11:30 a.m. shotgun start, following 9 a.m. registration. The $230 entry fee includes green fees, cart, range balls, tee prizes, lunch, dinner and a foursome photo. The cost is $60 for dinner only.

Youth sports grants

The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame (BASHOF) is accepting grant applications from youth organizations and schools interested in purchasing new sports equipment.

The BASHOF Youth Fund has provided nearly $2 million to more than 350 sports organizations in the 11 counties of the Bay Area since its inception in 1981.

The deadline for returning completed applications is Jan. 31, 2003. For more information, call 415.352.8827 or visit www.bashof.org to download an application.


SoccerMainia

Soccer skills and conditioning classes offered by SoccerMainia will be held in September at Camden Park. The hour-long, twice-weekly classes will be held Mondays through Thursdays during the 4­6 p.m. time block.

There is also a TeenyMainia program for preschool-and kindergarten aged-children.
