It's play-off time, and Sunnyvale-Cupertino Pop Warner football is sending two teams to the post-season—one of them undefeated.
The Black Knights completed a perfect regular season with wins over Coyote Creek and Santa Clara in the final two weeks. The Black Knights dominated Coyote Creek 28-0 before beating Santa Clara 21-6 to run their record to 8-0.
The Micro Rockets split in the last two games of the regular season to wind up 4-3-1. The Micro Rockets lost a tough 16-6 nod to Coyote Creek, but came back to edge Santa Clara 14-12.
The Knights, meanwhile, finished the year with a 2-5-1 record following two losses in the last two games of the year. The Knights were blanked 38-0 by Coyote Creek, then lost a 12-9 heartbreaker to Santa Clara.
The Rockets also lost in the last two games of the season to wind up the year 2-6. The Rockets lost a close one 30-22 to Coyote Creek before getting shut out 32-0 by Santa Clara.
