Jumpstart Volleyball
The Jumpstart Volleyball Club will hold tryouts for players from the beginner to advanced levels for competition and developmental teams on Nov. 10 at Lynbrook High School, 1280 Johnson Ave. in San Jose.
Tryouts are slated for 10 a.m. to noon for players ages 12 and under; 24 p.m. for players 14 and under; and 68 p.m. for players ages 1618. The tryout fee is $25.

Softball tryouts
The Strikkers, a girls softball 16-and-under traveling team, will hold tryouts for the 2003 summer season on Nov. 17 and 24 at Oak Grove High School in San Jose. Pitchers and catchers should report at 11 a.m. and position players at noon. For more information, call Ernie Garcia at 408.281.7855.
De Anza reunion
The De Anza College football program will hold a 35-year reunion on Nov. 16, 10 a.m.3 p.m., with a barbecue and ceremony on the football stadium grounds at the school's Cupertino campus.
All former players are encouraged to attend, and there will be a special awards ceremony for the 1979 National Championship team at halftime of the De Anza-Hartnell game.
De Anza players who have gone on to play in the National Football League include Jeff Sevy (Chicago Bears), Mervyn Fernandez (Oakland Raiders), Randy Kirk (San Francisco 49ers), Jahen Arnold (Pittsburgh Steelers) and Frank Manamalenna (Kansas City Chiefs).
The day begins with brunch at 10 a.m., alumni ceremonies at noon, the De Anza-Hartnell kickoff at 1 p.m., awards ceremonies at halftime and a barbecue following the game.

Youth sports grants
The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame (BASHOF) is accepting grant applications from youth organizations and schools interested in purchasing new sports equipment.
The BASHOF Youth Fund has provided nearly $2 million to over 350 sports organizations in the 11 counties of the Bay Area since its inception in 1981.
