Hanukah stories will be told at the library
With the holidays fast approaching, youngsters and grown-ups alike can learn more about the different cultures that observe the season. The Sunnyvale Public Library presents Erica Lann-Clark, a storyteller, who will relate tales titled, "Hanukkah stories for grown-ups and the kids who love them."
The free event is for children of kindergarten age and older as well as adults. The event takes place in the program room at the Sunnyvale Public Library on Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. The library is located at 665 W. Olive Ave. in Sunnyvale. For more information, call children's services at 408.730.7292.
Fremont students to perform two dramas
Fremont High School students will demonstrate their theatrical skills by staging two dramas: Mort and Just a High School Play.
Mort is about Death, played by Casey Molver, a senior. After centuries of ushering souls into the next world, Death decides to let someone else do his dirty work. He apprentices an outrageously weird and clumsy boy by the name of Mort (played by senior Ben Samuel). When Death lets Mort take over for the night, things go hilariously wrong.
Just a High School Play breaks down the stereotypes of "jocks," "preps," and "druggies." It demonstrates how students deal with real-life problems having to do with drugs, relationships and family life.
Mort will play at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 4 and 6 and at 2 p.m. on Dec. 7. Just a High School Play will be at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 and 7, and at 2 p.m. on Dec. 8.
All productions take place in the small gymnasium in Fremont High School, located at 1279 Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road in Sunnyvale. Tickets are $5 with an Associated Student Body card, $6 general admission and $3 for senior citizens and thespian alumni of the school. For more information, call Tim Shannon at 408.522.2463.
