Burglary—Nov. 23, 12:21 p.m., 600 block of E. Arques Avenue. An unknown person entered an open storage unit and cut holes in the walls in both the adjacent storage units. The person gained access to both the units and took property belonging to the owners. The owner of one storage unit reported that $4,000 worth of tools and property was stolen. The victim of the second storage unit was not available.
Auto burglary—Nov. 23, 9:45 a.m., 1400 block of Valcartier Drive. An unknown person broke into a vehicle that was locked and parked in a driveway. Once inside the vehicle, the person removed a laptop computer, worth $800, a calculator, worth $100, a Sharp organizer, worth $20, and a drill bit set, worth $20. The perpetrator also partially damaged the interior.
Possession of marijuana—Nov. 22, 11:46 p.m., 1200 block of Wildwood Avenue. A Sunnyvale public safety officer initiated a vehicle stop for an equipment violation. When the officer contacted the occupants of the vehicle, he detected a strong odor of burning marijuana. The officer cited the driver for possessing less than one ounce of marijuana.
Commercial burglary—Nov. 22, 8:21 p.m., 900 block of W. El Camino Real. A Sunnyvale police officer responded to a report of theft. The victim's credit card had been used to make two fraudulent purchases totaling $196.75.
Shoplifting—Nov. 22, 12:40 p.m., 1000 block of Arques Avenue. A Sunnyvale public safety officer responded to a shoplifting report. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the person who allegedly put a video card in his pocket and walked out of the store without paying for it. The person was cited and released.
Possession of a controlled substance—Nov. 23, 3:01 a.m., intersection of Socorro and Havenwood drives. A Sunnyvale public safety officer initiated a vehicle stop for an equipment violation. During the course of the stop, a canine search was conducted and yielded methamphetamine and paraphernalia used to smoke controlled substances. Both persons in the vehicle were processed at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety and transported to county jail.
