The actors and crew of California Theatre Center are busy as elves in Santa's workshop as they prepare for two holiday shows, one at Montalvo and the other on their home stage in Sunnyvale.
The Montalvo event brings the Brothers Grimm fairy tale "The Elves and the Shoemaker" to life at the Carriage House for three one-hour shows on Dec. 14.
The show features five professional actors with a show full of music and the humor and acrobatic antics of two merry elves.
The story takes the audience to a small village near the Black Forest, where the elves discover a poor and struggling shoemaker who clearly needs assistance. Their help inevitably brings chaos, but their kindness and resourcefulness end up saving the shoemaker from an unhappy Christmas. Shows are scheduled for 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Tickets are $8 for children and $16 for adults. Call 408.961.5858 or visit www.villamontalvo.org for more information.
Meanwhile, on its home stage at 550 E. Remington Drive, Sunnyvale, California Theatre Center presents The Best Christmas Package Ever, which follows the Herdman children, the meanest and nastiest kids around, who are performing in their first church pageant. And it may end up being the best Christmas pageant ever.
Professional actors are joined by CTC Conservatory students for performances, scheduled for Dec. 13, 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 14 and 21 at 11 a.m. Visit www.ctcinc.org or call 408.245.2978 for ticket information.
