Jacob A. Jessup
Jacob A. Jessup died Nov. 28 in a car accident in Salem, Ore. The former chief of the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety was 91.

He is survived by wife Evelyn, brother Bob Jessup of Salem, Ore., and sister Clara Ann Wieshaupt of Wenatchee, Wash.

Jessup was born in Ft. Wayne, Ind. He was in the Marine Corps and graduated from Washington State University with a bachelor's degree in police administration. He served as chief of police in Kennewick, Wash., between 1948 and 1950 and as chief of police and the fire department in Sunnyvale between 1950 and 1970. He then pursued a career in real estate in Santa Rosa and Forestville until 1985. He moved to Salem in 1987.

Bob says Jacob was a quiet yet friendly person. He enjoyed doing woodwork in his leisure time.

A graveside service was held Dec. 2 at Hartline Cemetery in Hartline, Wash.
