Grand theft—Dec. 8, 7 p.m., 900 block of Kennard Way. An unknown person stole a motorized Go-Ped that was in front of a house.
Residential burglary—Dec. 8, 6:24 p.m., 800 block of Morse Avenue. An unknown person entered a residence and removed $600 in U.S. currency,
22 gold bracelets, worth $3,000, one gold ring with a ruby stone, worth $300, and one gold ring with an emerald stone, worth $300. Nothing unusual was seen or heard in the area at the time of the theft.
Retail merchandise theft—Dec. 8, 1:16 p.m., 1600 block of Hollenbeck Avenue. A store security officer observed a person taking retail property from the store by concealing it in her purse. The officer performed a citizen's arrest and the person surrendered the stolen property.
Fighting in public—Dec. 8, 2:04 a.m., 100 block of S. Murphy Avenue. A Sunnyvale public safety officer witnessed a physical altercation between three people. The instigator of the fight would not obey the officer's verbal commands, and force was used to subdue and handcuff the person.
Auto burglary—Dec. 6, 2:07 p.m., 500 block of N. Lawrence Expressway. One Compaq laptop computer, worth $500, and one Canon digital camera, worth $500, were stolen from an automobile.
Commercial burglary—Dec. 8, 3:55 p.m., 700 block of E. Evelyn Road. Sunnyvale public safety officers responded to an alarm call at a commercial building. An officer observed a male inside the building wearing a Santa hat and a white beard. The front window had been smashed and the man threw two boxes out of the window. The person then ran out the back door and over two fences. The officers then pursued the man, as well as others who were present at the scene, handcuffed them and transported them to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety. No one else was seen near the building. The owner stated that the building had been secured and that no one had permission to be there.
