The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Grand theft—Jan. 14, 9:55 a.m., 1600 block of Waxwing Drive. A parked utility truck was burglarized and several items were stolen, including one chop saw, worth $300, one circular saw, worth $150, a saw all, worth $80, and one hand grinder, worth $60.

Commercial burglary—Jan. 13, 6:35 a.m., 1000 block of W. El Camino Real. An apartment was burglarized and a variety of items were stolen, including one TDK PC card modem, worth $127.75, one Linksys Ethernet device, worth $97.50, one Canon digital camera, worth $500, and one Toshiba laptop computer, worth $1,700.

Auto burglary—Jan. 12, 2:38 p.m., 1300 block of Hollenbeck Avenue. A purse was stolen from the passenger-side floorboard of a vehicle. The purse contained items totaling $3,139 in value.

Residential burglary—Jan. 12, 11:07 a.m., 1100 block of Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road. Unknown persons gained entry into a residence and stole one black briefcase, worth $20, and one black leather wallet, worth $10.

Trailer burglary—Jan. 12, 700 block of Lakehaven Drive. Between 4 p.m. on Jan. 10 and 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 12, unknown persons used bolt cutters to remove a lock and steal gardening equipment from a trailer. Stolen were one Toro Lawn mower, worth $1,400, one Echo blower, worth $600, and one Echo weed eater, worth $500.

Accessory to felony—Jan. 6, 3:38 p.m., 600 block of Iris Avenue. Sunnyvale public safety officers went on a welfare check at the request of the San Jose Police Department. The SJPD had responded to a domestic violence incident and the Sunnyvale public safety officers followed up by visiting the suspect's sister's apartment. After the Sunnyvale officers knocked on the front door several times, they heard a loud crash, as if somebody or something had been thrown against the front wall or window. The officers pounded on the door, demanding entry. A person then answered the door denying that anything had happened. The officers moved her outside and conducted a welfare check on the other occupants of the apartment. Her brother, the suspect in the SJPD case, was found hiding under a pile of pillows in her bedroom. The person who answered the door was arrested for being an accessory to a felony by harboring a felon. She was transported to the county jail.

Auto burglary—Jan. 6, 9 a.m., 800 block of Azalea Drive. Unknown persons broke into a trailer and stole two Hammer drills, worth $100 each.

Assault and battery—Jan. 5, 1:42 p.m., 100 block of S. Murphy Avenue. Sunnyvale police officers witnessed a fight in a parking lot between a male and a female. The officers used force to break up the fight. The male was determined to be the perpetrator and was arrested. The male also resisted the officers' orders.

Under the influence—Jan. 5, 9:25 a.m., intersection of Mathilda Avenue and Indio Drive. A public safety officer stopped a vehicle for expired registration. The driver's license had been suspended and he had three minor traffic warrants. The driver displayed symptoms of being under the influence of a stimulant and was arrested. The driver was processed at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety and transported to county jail.

Auto burglary—Jan. 6, 12:13 p.m., 1200 block of Wildwood Avenue. Unknown persons broke into a private utility vehicle and stole a bag containing an undetermined amount of cash.
