Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Residential burglary—Feb. 3, 1:15 p.m., 700 block of Knickerbocker Ave. Intruders entered a resident's garage via an unlocked side door and then entered the home through a door in the garage. The door into the house was locked, but the hinge-pins were removed. Several areas of the home had been rifled through. However, residents reported that nothing had been stolen. There are no suspects in custody.

Disturbing the peace—Feb. 2, 1:44 p.m., 200 block of W. Washington Ave. Two women were observed fighting in the parking lot of a department store. After they were separated by a public safety officer, one woman started to hit and punch the other woman. The first woman was placed in custody, transported to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, cited and released.

Auto burglary—Feb. 1, 12:20 p.m., 1500 block of Partridge Ave. An unknown person forced entry into a vehicle and stole a backpack, a briefcase, a leather appointment book and a pair of sunglasses. Items valued at $190.

Attempted grand theft—Jan. 31, 4:20 p.m., 1300 block of Chesapeake Terrace. An unknown person attempted to steal a victim's trailer but was unsuccessful and left the scene.

Vandalism—Jan. 29, 4 p.m., 1100 block of Lime Drive. A vehicle was driven onto park grounds and caused damage to city property. The unknown persons drove the vehicle across the field and spun "donuts" into the grass.

Petty theft—Jan. 30, 4 p.m., 1000 block of Arques Ave. A man entered a store and concealed 14 DVDs under his clothing. He exited the store without paying for the merchandise and was arrested outside by security personnel. The man, who had a prior conviction, was booked into county jail.

Petty theft—Jan. 25, 12:12 p.m. 1000 block of E. Arques Ave. A man stole a floppy drive from a display and concealed it in his jacket. The man proceeded to exit the store without paying but was stopped by security and placed under arrest. The man was released with a citation.

Auto burglary—Jan. 23, 5 p.m., 1200 block of S. Wolf Road. An unknown person stole a purse from a car. Nothing else was stolen.

Attempted Burglary—Jan. 23, 4:26 p.m. Two men were heard outside a ground-level apartment. One of the two men attempted to remove the outer screen of a sliding bedroom window and force the window open, but a bar that lay in the window track stopped the window from opening. The men then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

Grand theft—Jan. 22, 4 p.m., 500 block of E. El Camino Real. Two people pushed a cart of groceries out of the front door of a store without attempting to pay. The persons were arrested and booked at county jail.

Petty theft—Jan. 25, 12:12 p.m. 1000 block of E. Argues Ave. A person took a floppy drive from a store display, concealed it in his jacket and proceeded to exit the store without paying. He was stopped by loss prevention personnel and eventually released with a citation.

Auto burglary—Jan. 23, 5 p.m., 1200 block of S. Wolf Road. An unknown person stole a purse sitting on the front seat of a car. Nothing else was stolen from the vehicle.

Auto burglary—Jan. 23, 4:26 p.m. Two unknown men were heard outside the victim's ground-level apartment while the victim was lying in his bed. One of the two suspects attempted to remove the outer screen and force the sliding window open. A bar that lay in the window track protected the window from being opened. The suspects then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

Grand theft—Jan. 22, 4 p.m., 500 block of E. El Camino Real. Suspects pushed a cart of groceries out of the front door of a grocery store without paying for them. The suspects were arrested and booked at county jail.
