Japanese photos highlight art event

Arab American Community Television and the Iraqi Community Association are co-hosting a photo exhibit that features the work of Japanese photojournalist Takashi Morizumi. The event includes photos of children in Iraq as well as performances. Guest speakers will talk about the aftermath of the Gulf War and ongoing sanctions, as well as share firsthand experiences of life in Iraq.

City invites public to discuss shortfall

The city of Sunnyvale will hold two community meetings to inform the public about the potential impacts of the budget shortfall and to ask for public input. The first meeting will be held on Feb. 21, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Columbia Middle School's multi-purpose room. City dialogue with downtown group

The Sunnyvale Downtown Association has invited city council members to attend an upcoming meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to provide an opportunity for downtown-area business owners to talk with city council members about issues related to the downtown business community. Junior theater performs 'Cinderella' in Sunnyvale

February spay/neuter surgery 50 percent off

During the month of February, the Humane Society of Santa Clara Valley is offering spay/neuter surgery for 50 percent off the regular price. Spaying and neutering helps prevent pet overpopulation and prevents certain types of reproductive cancers from developing.

The Sunnyvale Humane Society is one of the largest animal shelters on the West Coast. The nonprofit organization cared for approximately 30,000 animals last year. For more information, call the Humane Society's "Spay/Neuter Month Appointment Line" at 408.727.3383, ext. 763.
