Grand theft—Feb. 9, 2:30 p.m., 1200 block of Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road. A woman was on school grounds when she discovered her purse was missing. The purse and its contents, which included cash and gift certificates, were valued at $920.
Resisting officer—Feb. 9, 1:28 a.m., 100 block of S. Murphy Ave. Public safety officers responded to an officer requesting backup in managing a fight. Upon arrival, one officer observed a large group of people attempting to assist a victim of the fight. The officer then observed a man fail to obey another officer's commands to leave the area. The man then clenched his fists in an aggressive manner.
Under the influence—Feb. 8, 5:35 p.m., intersection of Benton Street and Lawrence Expressway. An officer stopped a driver for having a broken windshield. As the officer was trying to determine the woman's identity, he noticed that she seemed to be under the influence of a controlled substance. The officer arrested her after performing an evaluation. The woman was taken to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety for processing and was then transported to the county jail.
Auto burglary—Feb. 8, 12:10 a.m., 1200 block of Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road. The victim parked and secured her vehicle in a school parking lot. She returned 50 minutes later and discovered that the passenger window was shattered and her purse was missing from the floorboard. The purse, wallet and cash that were stolen had a total value of $315.
Auto burglary—Feb. 8, 12 a.m., 1600 block of Hollenbeck Ave. An unknown person forced entry into a vehicle and removed a stereo system valued at $1,600.
Possession of a controlled substance—Feb. 7, 9:25 p.m., 700 block of S. Fair Oaks Ave. A man was seated in the front passenger seat of a vehicle in a parking lot. During a consensual search of the passenger, a plastic bag of crystal methamphetamine was found in his right front pants pocket. The man was arrested and transported to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety for processing.
Embezzlement—Feb. 7, 2:15 p.m., 1200 block of Oakmead Parkway. A man falsified timecards and received checks for time that he did not work. During that period, the company he worked for terminated him. He then cashed the checks, which were worth $2,851.45.
Residential burglary—Feb. 7, 1:30 p.m., 700 block of Lakemuir Drive. An unknown person entered a residence and stole a computer from the living room. The stolen computer is valued at $1,600.
Check fraud—Feb. 6, 100 block of E. El Camino Real. A Campbell Police Department report was sent to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety regarding petty theft of checks. One of the stolen checks was used at a Sunnyvale business on Dec. 17, 2002 for the amount of $108.23. The suspect altered the check to show a false account.
Petty theft—Feb. 6, 3:05 p.m., 1000 block of E. Arques Ave. A man stole a DVD from a display and concealed it in the waistline of his jacket. He then exited the store without paying.
