Medical association seeking volunteers
The California Medical Association is expanding its Interpreter Services Program to cities within Santa Clara County. The program helps physicians communicate with patients who speak limited English and is looking for volunteer interpreters.
Volunteer interpreters within Santa Clara County with proficiency in any foreign language and experience in a health care setting are encouraged to contact the association at 866.241.4262.
Chess instructor holds competition
Dan Gertmenian, a local chess teacher, is offering a simultaneous chess exhibition for anyone who would like to play against him or his friends. Children 7 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult. The exhibition is March 2 at 1 p.m. at the Sunnyvale Public Library at 665 W. Olive Ave. For more information, call 408.730.7300.
Puppeteer performs stories at library

Olympiad of the Arts accepting entries
High school and college student artists, writers, photographers, dancers and musicians in Santa Clara County are invited to enter the Olympiad of the Arts
Competition. The West Valley/Mission Colleges Foundation is hosting this year's competition, which is supported by the Arts Council of Silicon Valley and the Saratoga Rotary Art Show. Winning students will be awarded $6,000 at the Saratoga Rotary Art Show at West Valley College on May 4.

Coldwell Banker offers scholarship to Silicon Valley high school seniors
Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage offers a scholarship program to high school seniors. Ten Silicon Valley scholars will be selected from 37 public high schools in both Santa Clara and San Benito counties, including Fremont High School. Each winner will receive a $2,000 scholarship. Coldwell Banker will grant the scholarships to the winners upon enrollment in an accredited four-year university.
