Hall of Fame
Tennis star Rosie Casals, Stanford and Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway, Warriors great Tom Meschery and record-setting jockey Willie Shoemaker will be inducted into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame during ceremonies to be held March 20 at The Westin, St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco.
The 2003 inductees join such Bay Area greats as Rick Barry, Joe DiMaggio, Peggy Fleming, Bruce Jenner, Ronnie Lott, Joe Montana and Willie Mays in the Hall of Fame.
The enshrinement ceremonies—the 24th annual—are open to the public. Tickets are priced at $200 each, and proceeds benefit the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame Youth Fund.

All-comer meets
Los Gatos will host all-comer track and field meets each Saturday through March 1 at the high school track. Field events begin at 12:30 p.m. and running events start at 1 p.m. The fee is $3 per athlete for unlimited events and $2 for spectators. The divisions include women/girls, high school boys, open men and masters men (over 40).

Scholarship
The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame is now accepting entries from high school juniors and seniors in the annual Art Rosenbaum Sports Writing Scholarship program.
Young journalists can enter sports-related articles published in their high school publications for the chance to win scholarships of $2,500, $1,500 or $1,000.
