Insight has contest for high-schoolers
Insight College Prep Center in Cupertino is holding a creative writing contest called "Musings of the Mind's Eye." Insight's counseling staff mentors high school students through the college admissions process. The contest is open to any high school student in grades nine through 12 living within the cities of Cupertino, San Jose, Los Gatos, Saratoga, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Palo Alto and Milpitas and will run until April 28. Entries must be short stories no longer than 1,500 words.

Scholarships for health majors
Tylenol is awarding 160 grants to students studying in a health-related field in undergraduate or graduate programs. Winners are selected on the basis of leadership in community and school activities, grade point average and intended focus on healthcare-related areas of study. Public Safety serves dinner at Chevys
The public safety department is holding its annual Tip-a-Cop dinner at Chevys Restaurant at 204 S. Mathilda Ave. this year on April 24. Public safety officers will act as waiters from 5 to 9 p.m., and 20 percent of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to the Special Olympics program. The department will hold another Tip-a-Cop night in May.
