Auto burglary—April 12, 2 p.m., 400 block of N. Mathilda Avenue. An unknown person stole a purse from a vehicle. The value of the items in the purse, which included credit cards, a personal checkbook and cash, is unknown.
Petty theft—April 11, 4 p.m., 1000 block of Arques Avenue. At a store a man selected a box containing DVD copy software. He removed the disk from its package and concealed it in the pouch of a three-ring binder. The man approached a cash register and purchased the binder without paying for the concealed disk inside. When he exited the store security personnel stopped him and placed him under citizen's arrest.
False imprisonment—April 12, 12 a.m., 800 block of Morse Avenue. A man grabbed a woman's hair and blocked the door, preventing her from leaving his apartment. Later the man fell asleep, and the woman left the apartment. The man and the woman had been friends. Public safety officers arrested the man.
Driving under the influence—April 11, 8:26 p.m., intersection of Fremont Avenue and Wolfe Road. An officer stopped a vehicle for excessive speeding. The driver was found to be intoxicated and was arrested.
Auto burglary—April 10, 7 a.m., intersection of Indio Way and N. Mathilda Avenue. An unknown person stole a stereo and CDs from a vehicle. The stolen items are valued at $1,600.
Possession of a controlled substance—April 9, 11:16 p.m., intersection of Lakehaven Drive and Lawrence Expressway. A public safety officer contacted a man to discuss a parking violation the man had committed. While the officer was speaking with him, he noticed the man's pupils were constricted. The officer suspected he was under the influence of a controlled substance, and the man handed the officer a pill he was taking for pain. The pill, which the driver said was given to him by a friend, is a controlled substance. The officer searched the man's vehicle and found a second pill and a pipe that is used to smoke drugs. The officer arrested the man and brought him to public safety headquarters for processing. The man was ultimately transported to county jail.
Auto burglary—April 9, 11:27 a.m., 700 block of W. Fremont Avenue. An unknown person smashed the window of a vehicle and removed a purse from the passenger seat. The stolen items are valued at $260; the value of the damage to the car is unknown.
Theft—April 5, 6 p.m., 50 block of E. El Camino Real. An unknown person stole a laptop computer and a cell phone from the front lobby of an inn.
