The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Resisting arrest—April 20, 1:52 a.m., 700 block of N. Mathilda Avenue. An officer stopped a brown Ford Explorer for speeding. When the vehicle yielded, two passengers quickly exited the car and began to run from the scene; both were apprehended. The driver gave a false name on three different occasions during the investigation. His identity was ultimately discovered.

Possession of a controlled substance—April 19, 11:17 p.m., 900 block of E. Carribean Drive. An officer saw a single vehicle parked in the rear area of a parking lot of a closed park. The vehicle was occupied by two people. The officer approached the vehicle and noticed the odor of burned marijuana emanating from inside the car. The officer asked the occupants to hand over any marijuana they had, and the driver provided the officer with a small baggie of marijuana. A search of the car revealed the driver to be in possession of psilocybin mushrooms and additional marijuana. The officer arrested and booked the driver and cited and released the passenger.

Vandalism—April 18, 9:05 p.m., 100 block of E. El Camino Real. A citizen reported a tagging in progress. Officers responded to the scene but were unable to locate the tagger. The officers discovered graffiti on a 20/20 recycling bin but were unable to locate the owner of the bin.

Possession of burglary tools—April 16, 11 p.m., 400 block of N. Mathilda Avenue. Officers responded to a report of two men looking into vehicles using a flashlight. When the officers contacted the subjects they were sitting in a van. They were later identified by the reporting party. During a consensual search of the subjects' van, gloves, wire cutters, stereo equipment and a chisel were found. One of the subjects had a mini flashlight in his right front pocket. The officers arrested both men, and they were taken to county jail.

Auto burglary—April 16, 7:30 p.m., 200 block of W. Washington Avenue. An unknown person entered a woman's vehicle and removed the stereo, causing damage to the dashboard. The total value of the stolen item was $250.

Identity theft—April 11, 11:59 a.m., 1700 block of Kimberly Drive. A person brought a copy of identification documents and credit reports showing unauthorized activity and a chronology of events to public safety headquarters. The person had fingerprints and a photo taken at headquarters.

Removal of tree without permit—April 19, 11:15 a.m., 1200 Heatherstone Way. A man reported that there was a crew of people cutting down a tree. He did not believe they had a permit to do this. Upon arrival an officer observed what was left of an oak tree at the east property line of the residence. The officer contacted the property owner and inquired whether they had a permit to remove the tree. They did not have a permit.
