The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Auto burglary—May 9, 7:20 p.m., 100 block of Acalanes Drive. Witnesses stated that they saw two people standing around a vehicle. Upon seeing the witnesses, the people left on their bicycles. The witnesses went to the vehicle and found the driver's side window smashed. They immediately informed the owner. The owner discovered that a stereo worth $300 was missing.

Damage from city property—May 9, 6 a.m., 300 block of W. Eaglewood Avenue. A tree branch of a city tree broke off and fell across a vehicle, causing damage. The city arborist had responded but left the scene prior to the officer's arrival.

Petty theft—May 7, 11:15 a.m., 1000 block of E. Arques Avenue. A woman entered a store and attempted to return used cell phones. An employee denied the refund. The woman later removed two new cell phones from the display and walked to the cashier center. She concealed the items in a plastic bag. The woman left the store without paying for the items. Store security officers stopped the woman and placed her under arrest for shoplifting.

Armed robbery—May 6, 4 p.m., 600 block of Iris Avenue. A man parked and secured his vehicle and later discovered the key lock to the driver's door still locked but all the windows rolled down. An unknown person had entered the vehicle and stolen the car stereo and music player. The stolen items are valued at $600.

Unlawful collection of recyclables—May 7, 7:30 a.m., Sunnymount Avenue. A man was taking various cans and bottles from people's front yards without the consent of any of the homeowners, who had put out their recyclables for city pickup. There has been an ongoing issue with the man in this area. An officer contacted the man, who had the bag of recyclables in a basket on his bike. The man told the officer he took the cans and bottles for money to pay for food. The case has been referred to the city attorney.

Trespassing—May 1, 8:15 p.m., 1200 block of Sycamore Terrace. An officer responded to a residence on a report of a possible trespass. Upon arrival the officer contacted the reporting party, a woman who said her neighbor had been on her porch when she came home from work. She made a citizen's arrest of her neighbor. The officer accepted the arrest and cited the neighbor for trespassing.

Auto burglary—May 7, 8:30 p.m., 1200 block of Oak Creek Way. An unknown person stole a digital/video camera from a vehicle worth $1,000.
