The Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce is presenting its 29th annual Art and Wine Festival. And the city is gearing up for some 150,000 visitors who will be tasting wine while perusing specialty items from all over the Bay Area and beyond.
This year's festival will be held June 7 and 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in downtown Sunnyvale along Sunnyvale Avenue, Evelyn, down Washington Street and along Murphy and Taafe avenues.
Some 500 artists and craftspeople from all over the country will exhibit their work, hoping to sell a piece or two.
Bay Area wineries will be pouring their merlots and chardonnays and other wines, and other vendors will sell beer and a variety of other beverages.
The festival will feature an international food fair, with a variety of food prepared by Sunnyvale's own local groups.
Live music will be performed both days. And Sunday afternoon the popular Joe Sharino Band will no doubt inspire attendees to break out in dance. The main stage and the food court will be located at the corner of Sunnyvale and Evelyn.
Visitors must buy a 2003 wine or beer glass for $5 in order to drink at the festival. Drink tickets will cost $4 each or three for $10, and each ticket pays for one glass of wine or beer. Other merchandise, like T-shirts and aprons, will be available at the festival.
There will be no designated parking for the event; however, there is public parking available at the Town Center mall and in the newly constructed underground parking garage by Town and Country Village.
Attendees can take public transportation or ride bikes to the event. Caltrain is a half-block from the festival, and there will be free and guarded bike parking on the corner of Evelyn and Sunnyvale avenues. For more information, call the Chamber of Commerce at 408.736.4971.
