Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Petty theft—May 25, 3 p.m., 1600 block of Hollenbeck Avenue. A woman entered a store and removed a necklace and placed it in her purse. She left the store without paying for the necklace and was apprehended by store security personnel.

Possession of a controlled substance—May 25, 4:10 a.m., intersection of Del Ray Avenue and Vaqueros Avenue. An officer conducted a consensual search of a man and discovered a bag of crystalline substance in his left shoe. The subject also displayed symptoms of being under the influence of a stimulant. The officer arrested the man for possession of a controlled substance.

Residential burglary—May 24, 4:30 p.m., 1200 block of Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road. An unknown person stole a laptop and a cordless phone from a residence. The stolen property is valued at $1,565.

Vandalism—May 23, 9:38 p.m., 900 block of Fairwood Avenue. A woman reported that she was in her home when she saw a person walk up her driveway and kneel down by her vehicle's front right tire. She then heard air leaking out of the tire.

Grand theft—May 22, 2:15 p.m., 1000 block of E. Arques Avenue. A man was seen in a store concealing four mini drives in his front waistband. After he exited the store without paying, he was contacted by store security personnel and escorted back inside. An officer arrested the man and transported him to public safety headquarters.

Disobeying a lawful order—May 19, 1:22 p.m., 700 block of All America Way. A man was in his vehicle at the parking lot of public safety headquarters and was attempting to leave when an officer stopped him. The officer approached the vehicle and observed several dangerous mechanical violations on the man's vehicle. The officer signaled and asked the suspect to roll down his window. The man looked at the officer, ignored the request and drove away. The officer conducted a traffic stop and took the man into custody. He was transported to headquarters and then issued a citation.

Auto burglary—May 24, 6 p.m., 600 block of San Juan Drive. An unknown person removed a woman's briefcase from the rear of a parked vehicle.

Residential burglary—May 21, noon, 1200 block of Lakeside Drive. A man and his wife found four watches missing from their apartment. The stolen property is valued at $2,020.
