Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Possession of a controlled substance—June 23, 1:37 a.m., 200 block of W. Maude Avenue. An officer responded to an argument in the parking lot of a store. One of the people involved in the fight initially provided the officer a false ID. A search of her purse resulted in the discovery of a glass smoking pipe. The officer also found a clear plastic bundle in her car containing a substance that tested positive for amphetamines.

Petty Theft—June 22, 8:50 a.m., 100 block of S. Sunnyvale Avenue. An officer responded to a disturbance at a local motel. A man and a woman were fighting. The woman left at the request of the hotel manager. She took with her the hotel linens and also damaged the hotel room's microwave. The manager pressed charges regarding the theft and damage.

Petty theft—June 21, 4:30 p.m., 1000 block of E. Arques Avenue. A person selected a leather cell phone case from a local store and removed the case from its packaging. He concealed it in the front left pocket of his pants, then put the case on his cell phone and exited the store without paying for it. The suspect was apprehended, arrested and booked at public safety department headquarters.

Auto Burglary—Between June 21 and June 23, 1000 block of Willow Avenue. Unknown persons broke into a vehicle and removed the car jack from the trunk, jacked up the car and removed all four tires and rims. The items were valued at $700.

Suspicious circumstances—June 21, 1.25 p.m., 300 block of E. Arbor Avenue. Four unidentified males contacted residents of the area claiming to be repairing a neighbor's fence. They said they wanted to show residents repairs that needed to be done on their fence. Once in the backyard the subjects attempted to lure residents into the corner. Residents told the men they weren't interested and went into the house. The men left in a red van. An officer contacted the neighbor the men claimed to be working for; the resident stated that no work was being done on the fence.

Burglary—June 20, 9 p.m., 200 block of W. Washington Avenue. An officer responded to a disturbance at a local department store. The suspect was being detained in the parking lot. Store security stated that a person was seen removing electronic security devices from several clothing items. She exited the store without paying for the items, and, when contacted outside the store, she attempted to flee. The suspect was arrested and transported to county jail.

Robbery—June 20, 3:40 p.m., 1000 block of E. El Camino Real. A person approached a bank teller and stated, "I have a gun," and "Give me the money—large bills only." The teller handed the person more than $3,300 in 100-, 50- and 20-dollar bills.

Burglary—Between May 15 and June 18, 600 block of S. Fair Oaks Avenue. A person entered an apartment, stole items and left the apartment. The items were valued at more than $4,000 and included a pair of diamond earrings and four silk pieces of fabric.
