Battery—July 7, 10:50 a.m., 700 block of Morse Avenue. A man was battered by persons who were last seen driving southbound on Morse Avenue. The victim stated that he had seen the people before and would be able to identify them if he saw them again.
Grand Theft—July 7, 10:30 a.m., 700 block of E. El Camino Real. A local car dealer reported that all four tires, rims and assembly pieces had been stolen from a vehicle in his lot. The theft occurred when the business was closed. The total value of the items stolen was approximately $2,400. There were no witnesses, suspects or leads.
Under the Influence—July 7, 2:31 a.m., Lakehaven and Meadowlake avenues. After contacting a person on the street, a public safety officer ran a criminal history check. The man had a vehicle code warrant for $10,000 and a warrant for $173 for a penal code violation. The officer performed sobriety tests and arrested the suspect for the outstanding warrants and suspicion of being under the influence.
Brandishing Weapon—July 6, 10:17 p.m., 800 block of E. El Camino Real. Three young males were harassing another man; one of them pushed him slightly and another brandished a "butterfly" knife. The young men then left the area in a new silver Honda Civic.
Possession of Stolen Property—July 5, 4:15 p.m., El Camino Real and Bernardo Avenue. Two people were detained as possible suspects in a check fraud case at a grocery store. An officer searched one of the suspects' purse and found a stolen checkbook, a black wallet, stolen mail and three false California driver's licenses with the purse owner's picture on each. The owner of the purse was arrested and placed in handcuffs without incident.
Forgery—July 5, 3:49 p.m., 600 block of Bernardo Avenue. An officer responded to a local bank that reported a man attempting to cash a bad check. Upon arrival, bank management pointed out the individual and verified that the check in question had been reported missing. The suspect was arrested without incident.
