The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Possession of weapon—July 12, 3:14 a.m., 200 block of W. Washington Avenue. Upon observing a vehicle driving through the parking lot of a local department store, an officer conducted an investigative stop on the vehicle. The driver had a $10,000 warrant out for his arrest. The officer located a martial arts weapon next to the driver's seat on the floor.

Robbery—July 11, 10:12 p.m., 1000 block of Ontario Avenue. A driver for a local pizza joint was making a delivery when two males approached him and said the pizzas were their property. One man took a gun from his waistband and demanded the pizzas and money. The other showed the delivery driver a knife he had in his waistband.

Grand theft—July 11, 12:40 p.m., 500 block of E. El Camino Real. A man placed various bottles of liquor in a shopping cart at a local grocery store and walked out without paying for them. When a store employee approached the man in the parking lot, he abandoned the items and drove away.

Vandalism—July 11, 8 a.m., 600 block of Harrow Way. An officer responded to Ortega Park on a report of gang graffiti on several buildings in the park. Upon arrival, he saw the graffiti, which had been done with white spray paint, markers and a sharp object. The officer found no evidence in the park.

Auto Burglary—July 10, 12:30 p.m., 1000 block of Reamwood Avenue. Two people entered a restaurant for lunch. When they returned to their vehicle, the passenger window of the truck was smashed and both people discovered that their laptops and Palm Pilots were missing. A GPS device and a sales book were also stolen from the back seat of the truck.

Possession of a controlled substance—July 10, 12:40 a.m., intersection of Ahwanee Avenue and San Mateo Court. An officer stopped a driver after observing the man as he made several traffic violations. Upon contacting the man at his vehicle, the officer detected a moderate odor of alcohol and observed a small clear bag containing a white powder behind the front passenger seat.

Assault—July 8, 8:30 p.m., 500 block of N. Fair Oaks Avenue. Some people reported being physically attacked by three to four males after an altercation during a basketball game. The people were punched by one of the men after an argument about a foul during the game.
