Elks Lodge hosting jazz society band
The South Bay Jazz Society is holding its monthly jazz dance with Ted Shaefer's Jelly Roll Jazz Band on July 27 at the Sunnyvale Elks Lodge, 375 Pastoria Ave., from 1 to 5 p.m.
There will be dancing, music, food and a bar available.

Alzheimers: disease or normal aging?
On July 31 the Belmont Village Assisted Living Community in Sunnyvale is hosting a lecture titled "Is Alzheimer's Disease or Just Normal Aging?"
Dr. Ealon Mathew Joelson, a neurologist at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, will speak about healthy and diseased brain function, what to expect when visiting a neurologist, and current medical knowledge about the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's.
The free seminar is open to anyone who is concerned about normal memory function during the aging process and would like to know how to distinguish serious causes of memory loss versus benign ones.
The lecture begins at 5 p.m. at Belmont Village at 1039 E. El Camino Real in Sunnyvale.

A pocket reference for city services
A small community resource guide with information about frequently requested services is now available to residents.
The guides are available in English and Spanish and include information on counseling, mental health, domestic violence, child abuse, housing, health care, senior and bilingual services, as well as other types of services offered within the city of Sunnyvale.
The guides are available at the Sunnyvale Community Center, city hall and the Sunnyvale Library.
