Mayor holds coffee, talk with public

Sunnyvale Mayor Julia Miller will hold a second Coffee & Conversation during the weekly Farmers Market.

She wants to give residents a chance to meet their mayor in a relaxed, informal environment and share their questions, concerns and ideas.

The first coffee was held in mid-June before the city budget and downtown plan were finalized. The session proved to be so popular that Mayor Miller extended the meeting by more than an hour to accommodate all those who were present. It was this success that prompted a second meeting.

The event will take place on August 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Coffee & More at 100. S. Murphy Ave. Coffee and refreshments available for purchase.

Public input wanted on downtown design

The city of Sunnyvale has scheduled two community meetings for public input on future design in the downtown area.

Public comments will help in the creation of design policies, which will guide architectural quality, site design and landscaping.

The current downtown plan, which was approved in June, allows for mixed-use development with both residential and retail properties.

There are two separate meetings to discuss each issue.

The first meeting will include discussion on the commercial design and will take place on August 14 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Sunnyvale Community Center Community Room at 550 E. Remington Drive.

The second meeting will include discussion on the residential design and will take place on August 28 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the same location.
