Burning up the Road

Fire engine No. One from Sunnyvale paraded with 30-something fire trucks up the Peninsula on Aug. 8. Stopping at various fire stations along the way, the convoy collected donations for the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation in San Francisco. Sunnyvale's Public Safety officers donated two checks. One for $3631.67 raised at the Department of Public Safety's pancake breakfast this year and another for $600 from the PSOA. By the time the cavalcade pulled into the city, they'd gathered up $133,000.
