Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Robbery—Sept. 23, 12:39 a.m., 700 block of N. Mathilda Avenue. An unknown person grabbed a gas attendant by the neck and threatened the attendant with a butcher knife. The person demanded cash from the register. It is unknown how much the person took.

Burglary—Sept. 22, 4 p.m., 700 block of Lakeway Drive. Someone removed several tools and saws from an outdoor shed. The shed was left unlocked by its owner. The stolen items are valued at $1,900.

Vandalism—Sept. 22, 2:30 p.m., 600 block of Harrow Way. An unknown person etched graffiti on the outside of a city's recreation-building window. The damage to the window is $400.

Assault with deadly weapon—Sept. 21, 6:20 p.m., Intersection of Fairoaks Avenue and Olive Avenue. A fight occurred at a street intersection. A man attempted to cause injury to another man who had been involved in the fight. The victim—who was not injured—identified the suspect in a photo lineup. The weapon used was a kitchen knife, which was recovered at the scene. Officers arrested and transferred the first man to the county jail.

Auto Burglary—Sept. 20, 8 p.m. 600 block of Iris Avenue. An unknown person forced entry into a vehicle by prying open the door lock. The person premoved carpenter tools, three speakers and a car jack. The stolen items are valued at $1,050.

Auto Burglary—Sept. 19, 11:47 a.m., 600 block of Columbia Avenue. Somebody cracked open the windows of a vehicle parked in an apartment complex. The person removed a stereo worth $1,000.

Petty Theft—Sept. 18, 3 p.m., 300 block of Old San Francisco Road. A woman reported that her wallet was stolen from her office. She did not witness anyone removing her wallet. There was approximately $50 cash in the stolen wallet.

Open Container—Sept. 19, 2 a.m., Intersection of Wolfe Road and Reed Avenue. An officer pulled over a man for driving a vehicle without his headlights on. The officer saw a 40-oz. beer bottle on the car floor. The driver consented to a search of his vehicle. The officer located an additional container of alcohol and a hypodermic needle. The officer cited and released the man.
