City commissions look for members

The city of Sunnyvale is currently accepting applications to fill open spaces on a number of advisory boards and commissions.

The planning commission is looking for applicants to fill three seats left empty when three past members were elected to city council seats.

The board of building codes and appeals and the heritage preservation commission are looking for two applicants each.

Members of the city's boards and commissions are appointed by the city council to act as advisers on policy issues.

An informational meeting is scheduled for Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. at city hall for anyone interested in serving on a board or commission.

The deadline for applications is Friday, Dec. 26.

Chamber to host holiday mixer

The monthly member mixer for the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce is being held Nov. 20 at 5 p.m. at C.J. Olson Cherries at 348 W. El Camino Real.

The mixer, billed as the largest holiday mixer for the Chamber, is a kick-off event for the holiday season, and will feature the hospitality of the staff at C.J. Olson's and samples of their products, which include dried fruits, fruit desserts and gift baskets.

Admission is free for members of the Chamber and $20 for nonmembers.

Payment is due in advance.
