Sunnyvale appoints
a new city clerk
Susan Ramos, former director of public affairs and city clerk for Dana Point, has been named city clerk for Sunnyvale.
In almost a decade of service in various California towns, Ramos has also spent time as city clerk of Menlo Park and Saratoga and deputy city clerk of Apple Valley.
Ramos won the 2002 Award of Distinction for Records Management Practices from the California City Clerk's Association. She is also certified with the International Institute of Municipal Clerks and is a notary public.
Ramos is replacing Cathleen McKay, who has been handling city-clerk duties on an interim basis.
Ramos will begin service on Jan. 5, 2004.
Sunnyvale schools
address nutrition
The child nutrition department of the Sunnyvale School District is holding a nutrition and food advisory committee meeting to discuss child obesity and nutrition issues.
In response to concerns over the health benefits of school lunches, the department is trying to bring parents and students together to educate them all on healthy lunch and good choices and to emphasize the link between proper nutrition and physical activity.
The first meeting is Jan. 13 at 12:30 p.m.
It will be held in the school district boardroom at 819 West Iowa Ave.
