Cameron, Gossard claim top water polo honors
By Dick Sparrer
Gordon Cameron hasn't lived in Sunnyvale very long. And he only started playing water polo at Fremont High School last fall.

But Cameron certainly got into the swim of things in a hurry. So much so, in fact, that he was named the Most Valuable Player in the El Camino Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League after a super senior season for the Firebirds.

Cameron and his brother, Andrew Amm, moved to Sunnyvale from Canada last year and signed on to play for the Fremont water polo team in the fall of 2003.

Cameron played well enough in his first season at Fremont to claim the MVP award in the circuit and Amm was named to the all-league first team.

Homestead junior Dan Gossard was selected the Most Valuable Goalkeeper in the El Camino Division. He was joined on the all-league list by teammates Brian Bucher, Adam Hock and Kenny Russum.

Rounding out the all-league first team were Johan Zaroli, Nick Matulich, B. J. Dericco, Sean Thompson and Sean Petersen of Wilcox; Tim Fitsemons of Santa Clara; Joseph Marino, Bryan Bishop and Drew Taylor of Mountain View; and Brian Yen of Lynbrook.

Earning places on the honorable mention list were Chris Dillman of Santa Clara; Steven Shimshock and Tony Zhu of Fremont; Thomas Denton of Homestead; Mike Kimecik of Wilcox; Ryan Ford and Robert Gregg of Mountain View; and Brandt Robinson of Lynbrook.
