Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Robbery—Jan. 10, 6:30 p.m., 1600 block of Belleville Way. A man forced his way into an apartment of a woman he knew. The resident attempted to stop him from entering by restraining the door. The man pushed inside, and then pushed the woman, causing her to fall back against a coffee table, injuring her back. The man then stole a turkey from the refrigerator and fled. He was later contacted and arrested for robbery.

Possession of a controlled substance—Jan. 10, 8 a.m., Charles and McKinney streets. An officer stopped a driver, and after searching the vehicle, found a baggie containing a white crystal substance that tested positive for amphetamines. The officers also found a glass pipe, of the kind used for smoking controlled substances, with a white substance inside and burn marks. Both people in the car were arrested on the scene.

Armed robbery—Jan. 8, 9:02 p.m., 1000 block of El Camino Real. An unknown person entered an establishment and, while holding a black handgun, told the cashier to hand over money. The cashier gave the person $350 and was then placed inside a walk-in refrigerator. A second cashier confronted the unknown person, but the person fled in a blue vehicle.

Identity theft—Jan. 8, 11:35 a.m., 200 block of West Arbor Avenue. A victim came into the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety saying that she had been receiving collection letters from a collection agency since November 2003.
