celebrates case
The Sunnyvale and Cupertino branch of the American Association of University Women is holding a meeting Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the landmark Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court case that granted women the right to have abortions.
The meeting will feature two speakers, Joyce Sogg and Claudia Shope, both to speak on their experiences before, during and after the court case.
The event will be held in the Sunnyvale Heritage Center on 550 E. Reminton Drive in Sunnyvale.

Fundraising event
for scholarships
The Kiwanis Club of Silicon Valley is holding a fundraising event to benefit local activities including Fremont High School scholarships, Key Club activities, Little League sports and pediatric trauma prevention.
The fundraiser will be held Jan. 25, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Chevy's, 204 South Mathilda at the corner of Washington and Mathilda in Sunnyvale.
To support the organization, a Kiwanis member will be at the door passing out fliers that—when presented to the waiter with an order—will direct a portion of all proceeds to the club.
