Pony Baseball

The Sunnyvale­ Cupertino Pony Baseball League will hold tryouts for the 2004 season on Jan. 31 and Feb. 7, 10 a.m.­noon, at Cupertino Middle School. The league is open to players ages 13­14 and registration will be accepted at either of the tryout sessions. For more information, call 408.245.7669.

Hot Stove Banquet

Eric Byrnes of the Oakland A's and Jason Simontacchi of the St. Louis Cardinals will be among the honorees at the 20th annual Hot Stove Banquet coming up Feb. 3 at the San Jose GI Forum, 765 Story Road in San Jose.

Tickets are priced at $35 per person, but youth baseball, high school and college groups can reserve a table for 10 for $300. For more information, call 408.446.3443.

SNLL sign-ups

The Sunnyvale National Little League will hold sign-ups for the 2004 spring season for all divisions in January at the Washington Park building, located on Washington Avenue near Pastoria Avenue.

Sign-ups will be held Saturdays, 8 a.m.­noon, and Thursdays, 5­8 p.m., throughout January. Players must provide proof of residency, birth certificate and medical information.

Challenger baseball

The District 44 Little League is holding sign-ups for its Challenger Division, a program designed for players ages 7­17 who are physically or mentally disabled. Registration is free and the season runs from March to June.
