What about vigilance over government?
I agree whole-heartedly with Rich Angell's letter in The Sun's Feb. 11 issue that in a truly fee republic, as America was founded to be, all people have a right to do business with one another—by barter or purchase with money or contract, without a government issued license of prior approval or anything of that kind.
People should have the absolute right to choose who they do business with, just as they do to choose who they associate with.
Will we lose that right to the government next?
The concept of government telling us who we can do business with makes just as much sense.
In today's world of counter culture, drugs and terrorism there are more reasons for the government concern about who we associate with than who we do business with.
Again, the question, is that next: Hopefully not.
Were we not admonished early on that vigilance over government is the price of freedom?
Whatever happened to that concept?
