Cooking classes are geared for children
For many pre-school and kindergarten age children, Humpty-Dumpty is just a tragic character from a nursery rhyme. But thanks to the "Mother Goose Cooking Class" series being offered by Sunnyvale resident Carole Jevons, he can become a delicious breakfast dish.
Jevons, a preschool teacher and childcare provider, is offering two sessions of her cooking classes to local families to teach young children about cooking techniques, kitchen safety and nutrition. Each course includes five classes, food and work materials for $55.
Session A began March 29 and runs until April 26 on Mondays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Session B is Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Fridays between April 2 and April 30.
For more information, call Jevons at 408.249.0967.
Library getting new tree for Arbor Day
The City of Sunnyvale, known as a "Tree City USA," since 1988 by the National Arbor Day Foundation is planting a tree outside the public library to celebrate Arbor Day 2004.
Mayor John Howe, Library officials, members of the Department of Public Works Tree Division and Parks and Recreation will be there to help plant the tree at 10:30 a.m. on April 3.
In addition to the tree planting, there will be a display of artwork made from recycled logs, presentations from PG&E regarding tree location and the use of urban forest trees for paper products. A city planner will also be there to talk about permits and practices involving trees and tree removal.
The Sunnyvale Public Library is at 665 W Olive Ave.
