Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Petty theft—April 2, 7:10 p.m., 400 block of N. Mathilda Avenue. A man entered a supermarket and hid two cans of beer and a bottle of rum in a jacket pocket before attempting to leave without paying for the items. He was stopped by store personnel, cited by police and released.

Identity theft—April 2, 3:56 p.m., 500 block of E. Washington Avenue. A man called the department of public safety after being contacted by two credit card companies asking him to confirm requests he never made for credit. An unauthorized person in San Jose had been using the man's name, date of birth, Social Security number and company name to apply for credit cards. The imposter's name and phone number were recorded by the credit card companies.

Interfering with a lawful business—March 29, 8:40 a.m., 1200 block of W. El Camino Real. A man requested that a hotel manager open a locked room for him so he could retrieve his property. When she refused, he threatened to kick the door in, so she unlocked it. He then locked himself in the room and refused to leave. He was later arrested by police.

Battery—March 29, 3:50 p.m., 1200 block of Tasman Drive. Officers responded to a report of a woman who had been hit in the face and neck by her 29-year-old daughter. The daughter fled the scene before officers arrived.
