Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Embezzlement—April 16, 2 p.m., 600 block of Kifer Road. Officers responded to a local business on a report that a cashier had stolen gift cards and given false refunds to customers. The total loss was $48.61.

Vandalism—April 16, 8:10 a.m., 700 block of Morse Avenue. A person called the Department of Public Safety after discovering graffiti inside both bathrooms at Columbia Park.

Trespassing—April 15, 9:52 p.m., 1000 block of Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road. Residents called the police after an unknown man climbed up onto their second-story balcony without their permission. The unknown person opened the balcony door but did not enter the residence.

Possession of a controlled substance—April 15, 9:20 p.m., 400 block of N. Mathilda Avenue. A person was placed under citizen's arrest after being caught trying to steal items from a supermarket. During a subsequent search, officers found two clear plastic baggies containing 4 grams of crystal methamphetamines. The person was also found to be under the influence.

Possession of illegal weapons—April 15, 8:30 p.m., 900 block of Helen Avenue. Two officers observed a van driving south on Helen Avenue with its lights off. After the officers shined their flashlights at the driver and yelled for him to stop, the van sped away. The officers were able to stop the van and arrest the driver. During a search of the vehicle, three baseball bats were found, and all occupants of the van were wearing the same color of clothing.
