Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Battery—May 5, 3:18 p.m., 300 block of S. Mary Avenue. A man entered his female partner's workplace and began verbally assaulting her. She asked him to leave, and this agitated him more. He hit her in the face with his hand several times, eventually knocking her to the floor. He fled the scene before public safety officers arrived. The man and the woman have been in a relationship for three years, and the woman told police she is trying to end it.

City property damage—May 2, 4:10 a.m., 1100 block of Ayala Drive. Early Sunday morning, a resident called the department of public safety after being awakened by a loud band when a city-owned tree uprooted and crashed into his car.

Tampering with a phone line—April 30, 11:06 p.m., 300 block of E. Eaglewood Avenue. A man was drinking alcohol outside his family's home and disturbing his neighbors. His mother told him to quiet down and went back into her home to call the police. The son followed her inside, tore the phone from her hand and tore the phone line from the wall so no one else could call the police. He continued to provoke his family members until public safety officers arrived.

Petty theft—April 30, 8:53 p.m., 500 block of El Camino Real. A man was stopped and held by supermarket personnel after grabbing food items and beer off of store shelves and trying to leave without paying for them.
