The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Assault, stabbing—May 12, 3 p.m., Fair Oaks and Taylor Avenues. Two men got in a dispute in a convenience store. One of them pulled a knife out and stabbed the other in the arm, causing minor injuries. The man who got stabbed was taken to a local hospital and released. Later, police located a man matching the description of the stabbing suspect, arrested him, and booked him into county jail.

Petty theft—May 8, 6 p.m., 500 block of East El Camino Real. Supermarket personnel stopped a woman after she attempted to leave the store with a bag full of miscellaneous items that she had not paid for. The bag contained cosmetics, a kitchen sponge, dryer sheets and vacuum bags. Total cost of the merchandise was some $85.

Child neglect—May 8, 5 p.m., 800 block of Coolidge Avenue. A 9-month-old child fell down 13 steps, suffering a concussion and numerous contusions on its body. The father did not want the child examined by medical personnel on the scene or at a hospital. The mother was left to seek first aid for the child.

Under the influence of a controlled substance—May 7, 5:40 p.m., Olive and Murphy avenues. A man was stopped for a municipal code violation and found to have several drug-related warrants against him. He admitted to—and showed signs of—being under the influence of a stimulant and marijuana.
